2 Day Detox: Follow up

Last time you heard, I was feeling depressed about my detox. When I got home last Tuesday, I decided “Screw it. I’m going to eat because I want to eat.” And I did. It was awesome. I went to Elmyr on Euclid Avenue and had a spinach burrito and a mango margarita. Noms.

In the end I realized that I really had no reason to do the detox. I didn’t want to do it in the first place, and I don’t really like grapefruit juice. Maybe someday I’ll decide that I truly do want to do a 2 day detox, but I think I may design it myself with a variety of juices. I think that was the most difficult part – the lack of variety. I don’t like eating/drinking the same thing all day (especially if it’s something I don’t really like to begin with). The acidity hurt my throat and left a terrible taste in my mouth. I just wanted all the detox juice out of my system, which I don’t think is the intended effect.

So that’s that. I realized I haven’t made a curry in a long time, so I’m going to try a curried chicken recipe from Recipezaar/Food.com. Peace out.

2 Day Detox: First Day

I will be updating periodically as I go through this. Beware, I’m barely into my third hour. **Update: I’ve made a change to my detox. Go beyond the jump to find out!

7:30am – Not too bad. I wasn’t hung over. A refreshing glass of juice is the morning is always nice. I usually eat a decent breakfast, like eggs and toast, but this isn’t so bad.

8:20am – missed my train. I hated lugging around a gallon of juice, but it got me thinking about whether or not I need a car, but when it comes down to it, I can’t justify getting one, and I hate that someone even suggested that I ask my parents for the money…needless to say, it was not a fun commute.

8:30am – drank some more 2 day detox on the train ride. It was not as pleasant as the first glass I had this morning, mostly because I was already tired of the juice.

9:40am – work has distracted me from my grumpiness. Also, I texted my manfriend “i hate not eating. i want to fucking rip someone’s head off,” and he responded “i think this might be one situation where I don’t mind being away from you. Love you still” He’s the best.

Two Day Detox: It Begins

So it’s not even Tuesday yet, but I feel like I should let you know how I’ve prepared.

I’m a native Californian, and I will always bleed NorCal. I am, however, living in Atlanta. So for anyone who has been keeping up with the news, the Atlanta Braves played the SF Giants tonight to determine who goes to the world series. So, obviously, I had to go to a bar and watch the game, which means I ate a greasy french dip, tater tots, fries, and 4 beers. But the way I see it, that’s a perfectly good reason to detox.

So it’s 11:16 as I write this, and I already broke into my first gallon of detox. It’s what I’m craving right now. I need something that will (hopefully) make me feel less hungover tomorrow morning. (I’m a lightweight, by the way.) Again, the way I see it, why detox if you’re already eating and feeling well? I just treated my body like shit tonight, and therefore that’s a good reason to do a two day detox.

So good night, and I’ll see you in the morning.

Fish Tacos

I started working at Arden’s Garden in Little 5 Points yesterday. It’s my first job in the food service industry, and I had a blast. I may not feel that way in a couple weeks, but it’s cool people, good juice, and more cool people.

So earlier this week I was going to make this taco recipe, but then realized I wanted fish instead, so I changed it up. I also couldn’t get some of the ingredients they call for. They were fantastic, and this is how it went:

tacoooos! and green beans on the side, because you can't go wrong with green beans.
